Postponement Letter

Section 41.45(e) of the Property Tax Code allows taxpayers to reschedule their formal protest hearing one time for good cause. The MS Word letter provided here is only an example, there is no state-mandated form for the notification to the Appraisal Review Board that you wish to delay your formal hearing.

The Appraisal Review Board in Travis county has, in the last couple of years, adopted an easy-going attitude toward taxpayer requested reschedulings. They have allowed telephone calls to (512) 834-9317 to suffice as notice of the request. Simply ask for the "Appraisal Review Board" clerk and they will usually reset your hearing to another date right over the phone. You may want to confirm the new date and time by letter or facsimilie.
