Notice
of Protest
While
Texas'
tax code permits submission of almost any written
statement as valid protest, it is suggested that you
use the state issued form. It must be delivered to
the Appraisal District by May 31 of each year or your
right to contest the current year's valuation is seriously
jeopardized.
The
form identifies the property that is the subject of
the protest and specifies on what ground the protest
is being brought. We strongly suggest that you check
both the "value is above market" and the "value is
not equal in comparison to others" boxes. This preserves
your right to protest that the proposed value is not
"fair" when compared to that of other taxpayers, even
though it may be clear that the "market" value assigned
your home is supportable.
We
also strongly advise obtaining proof of delivery of
this form to Travis CAD, either by hand delivering
the protest and getting a date-stamped copy or by
sending it certified first class mail, return receipt
requested. Facsimilies are not reliable evidence of
filing protest.
Failure
to file written protest by May 31 is usually fatal
to your appeal for the entire year.

NOT MISS THIS DEADLINE.
