Owner's Affidavit of Evidence
The
Property Owner's Affidavit of Evidence is used to submit
sworn testimony to the Appraisal Review Board in lieu
of a personal appearance by the property owner. The
form must be notarized to be valid.
The
Affidavit must be sent to the Appraisal Review Board
to arrive in advance of the formal protest hearing,
so that it may be entered into the record of the ARB
as the property owner's testimony.
The
Travis Appraisal Review Board is meticulous in the handling
of these "Letter Appeals". The ARB will convene a formal
hearing, recorded on audio tape so that you may request
a copy, and treats the Affidavit exactly as if the property
owner was verbally communicating the words.
Our
experience is that full consideration is given the property
owner's opinion of value as stated on the Affidavit,
especially if it is accompanied by factual data supporting
the owner's position. The Taxpayer Workshop produces
exactly the kind of information needed to alert ARB
members to inequities and inaccuracies in the tax appraisal
of residential property, without the necessity of personally
appearing before them.
